Professional Portfolio Development

Hello, my name is Lynn Wiles. In the pre licensure program I coordinate Adult Health III: Critical Care Nursing and Transition to Professional Nursing Practice or Role Transition. You will probably not meet me until your senior year because my role is limited in the sophomore and junior levels.

All students within the SON are required to complete a professional portfolio during Role Transition. The portfolio is a collection of course work from throughout the curriculum which demonstrates your accomplishments and achievements throughout the program. This portfolio allows our graduates to highlight their strengths and identify future learning needs as well as demonstrate achievement of the "great eights" that Ms. Palmer talked with you about in the opening segment. This portfolio also will serve as a self marketing/career enhancing tool for you after you graduate from the program.

As you progress throughout the curriculum you will hear more about this capstone project. We will remind you to save all of your work... in hard copy, on a thumb drive, on a hard drive and maybe even on two computers. You will need copies of your various projects to complete this assignment. You will be assigned a portfolio mentor during Role Transition that will help you with this project. For now, all you need to do is SAVE EVERYTHING.
