Past History
Hi. I am a native Norfolkian (in fact we've been here for 5 generations). Native Norfolkians are somewhat rare since much of the population have moved and settled here as a result of the large military presence (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, and Coast Guard bases all close by). I attended ODU for my bachelor's degree (about the time that paper was invented), worked as a staff nurse and assistant head nurse in a surgical progressive care unit, taught LPN's in a local program, and then returned to earn a graduate degree in the first class offered by ODU. Options here in graduate school at that time included Nurse Practitioner, Educator, or Administrator. I chose to do the Educator and Administrator roles (a glutton for punishment) since I already had experience in teaching LPN's, but was interested in "how to run the show!" Upon graduation I stayed on to teach Fundamental skills to new BSN students (which I continue to love to do) and also became the Chief Academic Advisor for all local BSN students (approximately 300+). I 'm also involved in development of our virtual hospital (Monarch General Hospital.....web.odu/edu/mgh), a effort designed to stimulate critical thinking in our traditional baccalaureate students.
I am married (30 years now) and have two daughters- both grown. I LOVE CATS and currntly have 7 at home. In addition, I enjoy crafts, sewing, and reading (good mystery fiction).
I am looking forward to working with each of you. I know I will learn as much from you and the course as you will. Together we will lick this computer stuff!!!
