Academic and Professional History
In my other life BK (before kids,) I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and taught first grade in Portsmouth, Virginia for 5 years. After 13 years of sabbatical (at home as a mom) I returned to school and received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia. I worked for three years on a very busy general care unit at Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk. I returned to school and received a Master of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I am currently working at CHKD prn and looking for a part time practitioner position. I am secretary elect for the local chapter of NAPNAP ( National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners).
I have been full time faculty with Old Dominion School of Nursing since 1996. I am the course coordinator for the undergraduate pediatric didactic and clinical course.
Personal History
I have lived in Tidewater for the last 25 years. I have been married for 24 years and have 2 WONDERFUL!! (of course) children, a 15 year old son and 18 year old daughter who will be heading off to college herself this Fall.
