About Alpha Eta

The Old Dominion University Chapter of The Alpha Eta Society was established in 1985. The Alpha Eta society was chartered in Florida in 1975 as the national scholastics honor society for the allied health professions. Over the past 16 years the ODU chapter has inducted 163 students and 27 faculty and faculty administrators from the disciplines of Dental Hygiene, Community Health Education, Environmental Health, Health Sciences, Cytotechnology, Medical Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Ophthalmic Technology, and Physical Therapy.

The activities of the ODU Chapter reflect the commitment to encourage and recognize excellence in the scholarship. Alpha Eta members assist with the college of Health Sciences Annual Research Day and participate in the annual Poster Session at the Association for Schools of Allied Health Profession (ASAHP) national meeting. In addition, each year the ODU Chapter nominates students for the Rodenburg Scholarship awarded at the ASAHP conference. We hold the chapter record for the most winners of this prestigious national award for scholarship in the allied health field. And in 2001 we won the Alpha Eta President’s Award for outstanding Chapter.
