Financial Aid and Student Employment

Financial Aid

The Office of Student Financial Aid supports the mission of the University by enabling students and families to reduce or eliminate financial barriers which might prohibit their participation in the programs offered by Old Dominion University. The office administers need-based financial aid programs funded by Federal, State, University, and Private sources in the form of grants, Federal Direct Subsidized and Federal Perkins loans, employment, and need-and merit-based scholarships. In addition, the office administers the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan program, a non-need-based option for education financing. Graduate Assistantship

Graduate assistantship positions are available on a competitive basis to students admitted to the PhD program. The stipend paid for doctoral level assistantships plus tuition and fee waivers (students pay only the activity fee for each credit hour taken). Graduate assistants must enroll in and maintain a minimum of 9 semester hours of graduate credit and are expected to spend 20 hours per week. Graduate Assistants may assist with teaching, research, or administrative duties.
