Gianluca DeLeo, Medical Laboratories and Radiation Sciences, to Help Develop Mobile-Phone Software for Autistic Children
A program is being developed by Gianluca DeLeo of Old Dominion University and Gondy Leroy of Claremont Graduate University with financial and technical support from Microsoft’s External Research Group to develop software for mobile phones that uses pictures to help autistic children communicate.(more)
Dental Hygiene Students Assists with Colgate Bright Futures, Bright Smiles Program
Senior dental hygiene students and graduate students assisted the Colgate Bright Futures, Bright Smiles Program in October. The Colgate Dental Van visits various dentally underserved areas in the nation each year. In October 2008, they visited eight elementary schools in Norfolk, Virginia.(more)

The College of Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and Regensburg University Medical Center in Germany, successfully organized an international conference on pHealth: Personalized Health Technologies and Comparative Effectiveness on September 18-19, 2008 . Nursing professors Carolyn Rutledge and Laurel Garzon received a $765,000 grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to revise the Masters Level Nurse Administrator program and enhance the post masters Nurse Educators Program in order to address issues of Cultural Competency, Health Disparities, and Barriers to care.
